Visitor analytics and location
How our visitor map works
LegendMuse uses a private visitor map to understand which story pages shoppers use and to estimate how many people are browsing at a given time. The map uses your network IP address to estimate a city-level location. That estimate may be wrong, especially when you use a VPN or mobile network. It is not GPS tracking.
Where analytics permission is required, the map records browsing events only after you allow analytics through our cookie preferences. A visitor record contains a pseudonymous browser identifier, a masked IP address, the page path without its query string, the event type, and the time of the visit. We do not put the full IP address, children's photos, or a visitor's email address in that record.
When you place an order, we separately show the order email address and an approximate IP-derived location to authorized LegendMuse staff. We do not claim that an anonymous visitor is a particular buyer. The map is used for store operations and is not sold.
If you choose to create a personalized preview, we ask for your email, the child's first name and age, any title, story idea, birthday wish or dedication you enter, and a child photo. We send the photo to our illustration provider to make your preview. After your separate acknowledgement, we keep a private support copy of the photo and those details for up to seven days so authorized LegendMuse staff can help with the request. We also show the approximate city derived from the preview request's IP address. The full IP address is not stored in that record. The photo and preview-submission record are removed after seven days; you can ask us to delete them sooner. A later purchase is processed under our order and privacy policies.
Visitor-map records are scheduled for deletion after 30 days; order-location records after 90 days. Deletion may take additional processing time. You can change your analytics choice through our cookie preferences and contact contact@legendmuse.com about your personal information. For our broader practices, please read our Privacy policy.
